Strongly associated with the county’s coastal fringe, though almost entirely absent from eastern parts. Principally found in sand dunes and on coastal heaths, though a few inland records indicate that in can thrive away from the coast. Despite recently being listed as endangered (BC/RR, 2006) it still appears to be frequent and has sometimes been recorded in good numbers, particularly during the first part of August.
